In an article from TG Daily, Bill Veghte (Microsoft senior VP) is quoted for having said that Microsoft expects to sell no less than 177 million copies of Windows 7 in 2009. Bill explained that this is the first time in two decades that Microsoft has actually turned away people, who wanted to try their new operating system.

"We wanted to make darn certain that we could logo certify over 16,000 partners working on Win7 apps. Within 72 hours of launching Win 7 Release Candidate, we had two certified graphics drivers," he said.

Do you think that Microsoft will reach the 177 million mark by the end of the year or not? We would like to hear any comments on this issue, as we think Microsoft is expecting a bit too much of their new version of Windows. There is no doubt that Windows 7 will sell 177 million copies, but by the end of the year, might be a bit too optimistic.
